✦ Freelancers guide · Chapter 6

How much can avatars earn?

Avatars aren't just personas — they're money-producing assets you own. What a high-quality aged account is worth, why clients pay a premium for you to join, and how to price your talent separately from your assets.

Copies the whole guide — steps, prompts & all — for your AI agent
▶ Watch first
The 90-second walkthrough for this chapter — the steps below mirror it.

The last chapter showed you how to set up avatars. This one answers the question every gigworker actually cares about: what are they worth? An avatar isn't just a persona you post from — it's a money-producing asset you own. A real, aged, un-shadowbanned account with a genuine audience is a piece of property, and clients pay a premium to work through one. This chapter puts numbers on that, and draws the line between getting hired for your talent and getting hired for your assets.

Two things you're actually selling

When a client packages work to you, they're paying for one of two things — usually both:

Note Talent is what you do. Assets are what you own. The mistake most freelancers make is pricing only their talent and giving the asset away for free. Your avatars are the leverage — price them separately.
Avatars page with a level/earnings bar and a grid of platform avatar cards showing follower and karma statlines Earnings you've booked Estimate what a persona is worth An owned, aged asset
Your Avatars roster is your asset sheet. Each card's statlines — followers, karma, connections — are what a client is really pricing when they ask you to join.

What a high-quality account is actually worth

Numbers make this concrete. These are the kinds of rates a high-quality, long-term-owned, un-shadowbanned account earns — either as a per-post fee or as a monthly premium a client adds on top of your labor just to work through your asset. Every figure below assumes the account is real, aged, and clean — that's the whole point.

Asset Why it's worth it What it earns
Tech Twitter — female persona
1k real followers, Silicon Valley founders
A thousand of the right followers — actual SV founders — is a warm distribution channel money can't buy fast. Reach quality > reach size. $100 / post
Reddit — aged 1 year
1,000+ karma, clean history
Age + karma = trust. A year-old account with real karma can post where fresh accounts get auto-removed. That's launch, lead-gen, and audience-research access. +$300 / month
Reddit — aged 2 months
~200 karma
Same platform, a fraction of the trust. Younger, thinner, and it shows exactly how much the aging is worth — roughly 10× less. +$30 / month
YC Hacker News — aged
500+ karma, real comment history
The hardest crowd to reach and the highest-income. A Show HN or a thoughtful comment from an aged, high-karma account lands in front of founders, VCs and senior engineers — while fresh accounts get flagged on sight. +$200 / month
TikTok — USA
1+ month old, organic USA reach
A US-geolocated account that actually gets served to US viewers is worth far more than a fresh one that the algorithm hasn't trusted yet. +$30 / month
LinkedIn — real profile
10 genuine connections
Even a small B2B footprint on a real profile beats an empty shell. LinkedIn is where a handful of the right connections outweigh thousands of random followers elsewhere. +$50 / month
Everything above assumes the account is NOT shadowbanned A shadowbanned account looks alive but reaches no one — and it's worth close to nothing. The entire value of an avatar rests on it being real, in good standing, and genuinely delivering reach. Protect that standing; it's the asset.

Why the age & ownership is the whole point

Look at the two Reddit rows again. Same platform, same karma type — the only difference is one is a year old and ten times as valuable. That gap is the asset. You can't shortcut it, you can't buy it clean, and you can't fake it past a client who checks. What makes an avatar a money-producing asset is exactly what makes it slow to build:

Why clients pay more for you to join

Here's the leverage in practice. Two freelancers apply for the same growth gig. One is talented but posts from brand-new accounts. The other is equally talented and brings a 1-year-old Reddit account, a Tech Twitter with SV founders, and a warm LinkedIn. The client will pay the second one meaningfully more — not because they work harder, but because the moment they join, the client borrows the reach of assets that took a year to build.

That's why the numbers above are often framed as a monthly premium: it's the rent on the asset, added on top of your labor rate. When you join a client's task queue, you're not just showing up to do the work — you're bringing a distribution channel with you. Price accordingly.

Workspace Avatars panel where an imported avatar wears a per-desk uniform Your asset, on the client's desk Earns a premium while it's here
When you Import an avatar into a client's workspace, it wears a uniform for that desk. That's the asset going to work for the client — dressed for their brand, but still owned by you.

Put a number on it with the calculator

You don't have to guess. The Earnings Calculator below — the same one that opens from the top of the Avatars page — estimates what an account like yours earns per month across 17 platforms, 20 niches, and audience geography. A page's monthly income depends on the platform, the niche it sells into, and the geography of its audience; the grid estimates all three at once from a single consistent formula. LinkedIn is priced by age & connections, Reddit by age & karma, TikTok by followers with a geo factor — the same levers the rate table above turns on. Use it to walk into a quote with a defensible figure instead of a shrug.

💸 Monthly earnings per cell — ad-share + sponsorships + your own offers. High-value niches like SaaS & Services clear a few dollars from just 10 followers because they sell, not just advertise.
📏 Every platform has its own yardstick — followers, karma, stars, subscribers, members — so the tiers and scale differ per platform. Scroll the niche columns sideways →
⏱️ Hover a cell for time-to-grow: from zero, the step from the tier above, and ⚡ fast mode (4h/day).
🌍 Geography matters — most platforms geo-fence ads, so high vs low-income audiences earn very differently.

Note Want the full breakdown of the model behind these numbers — RPM per platform, niche multipliers, and the grow-time curve? Read the field notes: How much does a social account earn, per platform? All figures are model estimates from one internally-consistent formula for illustration and planning — not financial advice, and not guaranteed or typical earnings. Platform payout rates, ad policies, and audience economics change constantly.

How to price a gig, step by step

  1. 1

    Price your talent first

Set the labor rate for the actual work — the hours, the skill, the deliverables. This is your floor, independent of any account.

  2. 2

    Inventory the assets you'll bring

Which avatars does this gig touch? Open Avatars and read the statlines — age, followers, karma, connections. Confirm each one is in good standing and not shadowbanned.

  3. 3

    Add the asset premium

Use the rate table and the Earnings Calculator to attach a per-post fee or monthly premium for each account the client gets to work through. This is rent on property you own.

  4. 4

Quote talent + assets as one number

Your rate = labor + asset premium. Make it clear to the client what the premium buys: instant, aged, trusted reach they can't get any other way.

  5. 5

Protect the asset on the job

Do the client's dressing on the uniform, not the master avatar, and never let a gig risk the account's standing. A burned account is a destroyed asset — guard the thing that's earning.

Keep a small roster of strong assets One 1-year-old Reddit account earns more than five two-month-olds. Depth beats breadth: a handful of aged, clean, real-audience avatars is a far better asset sheet than a long list of thin new ones.

Key takeaways

  • You sell two things: your talent (labor) and your assets (the avatars you own). Price them separately — most freelancers give the asset away for free.
  • A high-quality, aged, un-shadowbanned account is a money-producing asset: e.g. Tech Twitter (1k SV-founder followers) ~$100/post; 1-yr Reddit (1k+ karma) +$300/mo vs a 2-month/200-karma one at +$30/mo; USA TikTok +$30/mo; real LinkedIn +$50/mo.
  • Clients pay a premium for you to join because your avatars bring aged, trusted reach they can't build fast — use the Earnings Calculator to quote that premium as a number, and protect each account's standing because a shadowban destroys the asset.

Assets priced. One habit left.

You know what your talent and your avatars are worth. The last chapter is the habit that keeps clients coming back — the built-in pomodoro, time tracker, and the streak timeline that turns showing up into proof clients can see.
